Sponsored Walk
We have organised a sponsored walk on Wednesday 27th March, which will raise funds for refurbishment of the playground. Parents and carers are welcome to join the walk and there will be refreshments available back at school along with a cake stall (all baked donations much appreciated!). There will also be a ‘Guess the name of the Teddy’ stall. We hope that you will support this initiative so we can enhance the playground for the benefit of all the children.
Year 2 habitats
Year 2 have excelled themselves in creating some stunning habitats! We're so impressed with their creativity and think each and every one is a work of art. They also display a thorough understanding of what makes a habitat. Well done Year 2 for a brilliant job! Here are just a selection for you to admire.
Boxford's Sporting Success!
Boxford have enjoyed fantastic sporting success over the last few weeks, with year groups involved in netball, swimming and athletics fixtures.
In a tightly contested netball match between Boxford and Dedham, both teams showcased exceptional skills, with impressive netball techniques on display. Dedham exhibited formidable defensive prowess, matching Boxford's strong defensive abilities. The match unfolded with end-to-end action, though occasional bunching and moments of players standing still added an interesting dynamic. Despite the closely fought battle, Boxford emerged victorious winning 6-4! Olivia's performance earned her the Player of the Match title. Well done to both teams, an excellent performance by both.
Boxford also took part in a swimming tournament with 9 other schools at Hadleigh Pool. Children from year 5 and 6 took part in individual events: front crawl, back stroke and breast stroke. Boxford did really well winning some individual races, and came a brilliant third out of all ten schools. Thank you to Vertas for organising the event and to Mrs Stroud for helping - the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Children from year groups 4, 5 and 6 took part in an athletics tournament at Thomas Gainsborough High school. There were various events including a six lap paarlauf (pair run), 4 x 1 relay, 2 x 2 relay, track events included, soft javelin, standing vertical jump, chest push and speed bounce. The children loved the events, results yet to be announced from TGS!
FoBS School Disco
We have an exciting date in the diary for after half term. The FoBS school disco is back! More details to come soon but we're looking forward to hosting all the year groups for a great afternoon / evening of disco magic!
FoBS Christmas Fayre
The FoBS Christmas fayre was a great success! A HUGE thank you to FoBS for organising it and to everyone who attended. Your support was incredible and we raised £1300! Wishing you all a very happy Christmas.
Local MP Christmas card competition
MP James Cartlidge asked children in his South Suffolk constituency to design a Christmas card, the winning entrant will have their design printed and used as his official Christmas card. We were delighted to be told that one of our year 6 pupils has won the competition – well done Faye, what a stunning design!
The Great Fire of London
Year 2 had a lovely first day back after the half term break with the children looking at images of a famous historic event that we will be learning about this half term. The children used their skills as historians to work out that the paintings were of The Great Fire of London, which took place 350 years ago. We then created our own fire of London display in the classroom. Super work!
FoBS Fete a great success!
The FoBS school fete was a brilliant success last week. The sun shone and the stalls, inflatables and police car were big hits with all age groups. Thank you very much to FoBS for putting it on, and to everyone who came along and supported the event. We raised just over £1000 which is a fantastic amount!
Year 4 school trip to Sutton Hoo
Year 4 had a fantastic trip to Sutton Hoo on Monday. They travelled back in time, learning about the history of this beautiful landscape.
They learnt all about the warrior leader who was laid to rest at Sutton Hoo over 1,000 years ago, surrounded by his golden treasures. They also heard about the extraordinary 1930s excavations that took place as Britain was on the brink of a war, along with the people involved. All in all, it was a fabulous day!
FoBS - KS1 Activity Area
During the summer holidays the Key Stage 1 activity area was renovated using funds raised by FoBS. To determine where the funds were needed, FoBS had a meeting with Mrs Lea as she was keen to improve this area to make it more streamlined and user-friendly for the children. The middle island was taken out, the walls painted, new flooring and shelves put up, much-needed cloakroom stands and a couple of tables were also ordered. The space is now a light, bright, uncluttered area where small groups of children can work with staff.
Thanks to FobS for raising the funds and organising the renovation work and to parents for supporting FoBS events, without the funds this wouldn’t be possible. The transformation is brilliant!
The Tree of Fabulousness
This week the children have helped to create ‘The Tree of Fabulousness’. They have drawn around their hands, cut out and decorated the shape however they wish, writing something positive about themselves. The tree has been designed and installed in the pod area and above it says “We are all different… and together we are fabulous’. The tree looks superb and is an amazing addition to the pod area, huge thanks to Mrs Hogger for all her hard work designing and installing.
Welcome to Boxford Primary School!
We'd like to welcome all our families to school, particularly our new starters. We hope that you all had a good break over the summer and are feeling refreshed for the start of the new academic year. In school, the KS1 activity area is looking wonderful after its refurb and is already being put to good use by the children. We look forward to seeing all their creations over the forthcoming year.
